Interior Designer - Contract
Rate: Hourly, commensurate with experience
Type: Contract
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid — mostly remote with some on-site needs)
About the job
We're looking for a Denver-based interior designer on a contract, hourly basis, with a focus on FFE selection, sourcing, and installation. One day you might be deep-diving for a custom upholstery spec; the next, hunting for a vintage mantlepiece at a salvage shop.
This role is a good match for someone who wants hands-on experience across all phases of a project; someone who thrives on variety in their work week; someone who is collaborative and open to learning. We’re a small studio working on big projects, so accountability, attention to detail, and a certain level of oh-god-i’m-not-sure-how-to-do-this-but-i-better-figure-it-out are essential to getting quality work done on time. Of course, we’re also a design studio, so your creativity, curiosity, and unique point of view helps us make the most meaningful work for our clients.
This position starts as contract and hourly, with hours that flex based on the project load. Some weeks will be light, others will be busy. As the business continues to scale, we hope to transition this role into a full-time position with consistent hours and a real seat at the table.
What you'll do
Source furniture, fixtures, and equipment across all phases of a project — researching vendors, building relationships with reps, tracking down that one perfect piece, and supporting through procurement and install
Assist in preparing FFE selections and presentation materials for client meetings, including mood boards, spec sheets, and sample pulls
Join site visits to keep tabs on project progress, verify conditions on the ground, and make sure the build is tracking with the design
Support installation and styling at project completion, making sure every detail lands the way it was designed
Assist with space planning, furniture layouts, and design development as needed
Help with drawings and documentation, like floor plans or finish schedules, on an occasional basis
Keep project files, documentation, and the studio's materials library organized and up to date
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field from an accredited program or 3+ years of experience at a design firm
Hands-on experience with FFE sourcing, selection, and pulling together compelling client presentation packages. Vintage sourcing is a plus!
A sharp eye for furniture, materials, and finishes and the ability to articulate why something works (or doesn't)
Clear communicator, written and verbal, with clients and collaborators alike
Highly organized and self-directed with strong follow-through on orders, timelines, and communications
Proficiency in SketchUp and/or Revit is a plus, but not required
What we offer
Flexible hours
Exposure to real client projects and job sites
Experience with product sourcing, procurement, and installations
Opportunity to build portfolio-worthy work
Mentorship and insight into running a small design studio
A collaborative, low-ego environment where your ideas and growth matter
