Interior Designer - Contract

Rate: Hourly, commensurate with experience

Type: Contract

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid — mostly remote with some on-site needs)

About the job

We’re looking for a Denver-based interior designer on a contract, hourly basis to support all phases of projects, from design development and documentation to FFE selection and sourcing to installation and styling. One day you might be modeling a living room in SketchUp and checking on a custom upholstery order; the next you might be visiting a salvaged goods shop with me to pick out a mantlepiece.

This role is a good match for someone who wants hands-on experience across all phases of a project; someone who thrives on variety in their work week; someone who is collaborative and open to learning. We’re a small studio working on big projects, so accountability, attention to detail, and a certain level of oh-god-i’m-not-sure-how-to-do-this-but-i-better-figure-it-out are essential to getting quality work done on time. Of course, we’re also a design studio, so your creativity, curiosity, and unique point of view helps us make the most meaningful work for our clients.

This position starts as contract and hourly, with hours that flex based on the project load—some weeks will be light, others will be busy. As the business continues to scale, we hope to transition this role into a full-time position with consistent hours and a real seat at the table.

What you'll do

  • Support projects from initial concept and design development all the way through FFE sourcing, procurement, installation, and styling

  • Draft interior architectural drawings in Revit, including floor plans, interior elevations, millwork details, and finish schedules

  • Build 3D models and visualizations in SketchUp to help clients and collaborators understand spatial layouts and design intent

  • Assist with space planning, furniture layouts, and interior detailing for residential projects

  • Source finishes, materials, furniture, fixtures, and equipment; help pull together materials for client presentations

  • Assist with custom orders, vendor communications, and procurement timelines

  • Assist on site visits to verify field conditions and support installations, as well as styling for photoshoots

  • Keep project files, documentation, and the studio's materials library organized and up to date.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program OR 3+ years of experience at a design firm

  • Proficiency in both Revit and SketchUp (required)

  • Experience drafting interior drawing sets and understanding of how drawings translate to what actually gets built

  • Clear communicator, written and verbal, with clients and collaborators alike

  • Highly organized and self-directed; comfortable working independently in a mostly remote setup

  • Genuinely collaborative, non-judgemental, and cool to work with

What we offer

  • Flexible hours

  • Exposure to real client projects and job sites

  • Experience with product sourcing, procurement, and installations

  • Opportunity to build portfolio-worthy work

  • Mentorship and insight into running a small design studio

  • A collaborative, low-ego environment where your ideas and growth matter
